The addition of a second living area without compromising on the existing style and flow of the home highlighted the need to provide a room that could be either closed off or left open to the existing house, dependant on the needs of the growing family.
The placement of a two sided fireplace centrally located between the new and old building and full height cavity sliding doors either side, minimised the separation of the areas. The skillion roof captures the northern sun with wrap-around highlight windows thus giving the room a greater sense of space and more importantly not reducing the light into the existing kitchen and meals area.
The assimilation between old and new, both inside and out, is unnoticeable.
